The Brassworks studio/workshop
I discovered the Steampunk genre about 12 years ago and immediately fell in love with the concept of building functional or fantasy sculptures from such durable materials as brass, timber and copper.
Steampunk is set in an imaginary era of adventure, exploration and invention and my work encompasses all three as my inventions are often based around machinery and apparatus built for exploration or survival as well as for adventurous activity. Most of my designs take inspiration from the ornate architecture and mechanical designs of the Art-Noveau and Victorian era and feature intricate patterns, imaginative mechanisms and an abundance of detail.
The idea of using mostly re purposed or up cycled material and components in my creations appeals to my collecting habit as well.
